School of Marine Science & Technology

Area : Tokyo
Master's Program

Course of Ocean Engineering

Students study marine instrumentation engineering, theory and practice for the creation and effective use of living environments in waterfront and sea areas, and the design and technology of marine steel structures and ships for marine transport.

Course of Fishery Science

This course studies marine life from the viewpoint of using it as a biological resource and provides students with a high level of knowledge about all aspects of fisheries. All studies take a broad viewpoint of attaining harmony between conservation of the global environment and the effective use of marine resources.

Course of Marine Science

This course studies all aspects of the ocean, from the coast to the open sea. Education/research is divided into three specialty fields. Physical Oceanography involves learning about the motion of the water in the oceans, such as currents and waves. Chemical Oceanography addresses the chemical composition of air and sea water. Ocean Geophysics addresses the mineral composition of the seabed and the geophysical properties of the earth's crust.

Course of Marine Bioscience

This program looks at the marine microorganisms and algae that are basic to the construction of the oceans' ecosystems, and cultivates broad knowledge and a high level of skills to enable students to understand biology at the cell, molecule, or gene level.
