Juris Doctor Course
The Law School of Tokai University takes full advantage of its 20 departments with the university to produce lawyers with advanced specialist skills who can demonstrate their competence especially in areas such as corporate/business law, intellectual property law, and medical law.
No less than 44% of the full-time teaching staff have experience in business. We offer a practical education that touches upon topics that are relevant today, including corporate reorganization, medical malpractice, biotechnology, intellectual property rights, etc. with the support of the bar association and a staff made up of experts with experience of being lawyers, judges, public prosecutors, and ex-administrative officials.
Regarding intellectual property rights, in particular, we can offer the most advanced education available, given that Tokai University has been involved in intellectual property education and research for many years.
The curriculum offers a "Legal Clinic" where the students may participate in the legal consultation business in a lawyer's office for the basic subject of practice, in addition to the basic subjects of law, and other "General Subjects" in which legal experts develop an omnibus-style class in which classes take a discussion format between both the teaching staff and students.
Taking advantage of the law school and the small number of students (50), we offer unheard-of individual tuition.
Tokai University Yoyogi Campus where the Law School is located is able to support students by providing a study hall where each student can have his/her own desk, an online search system of laws and ordinances, judicial precedents, theses, etc., and support of individual learning for review, and questions and answers, etc. using an e-learning system, and so on.
