| The 24 Hours of Le Mans is an endurance race first held in the French city of Le Mans in 1923. Boasting a storied legacy, the race is widely considered the birthplace of motorsports. This year marks the 76th running of the race, which is held in June on the Saturday and Sunday closest to the summer solstice. The weeklong proceedings, starting with the car inspections, continuing with the qualifying heat and culminating with the race itself, is known as Le Mans Week. The whole town celebrates during race week as visitors from around the world gather, swelling the town to five times its usual population. |
