Our research focuses on technologies for predicting human phenotypes based on personal genome sequences. Prediction of disease susceptibilities and drug responsiveness will be a crucial technology to realize the personal, preventive medicine in near future. We are also studying information technologies for predicting general human phenotypes such as facial morphology.ResearchAreasBiological sciencesKeyword■Bioinformatics■Human genetics■Human evolution■GenomicsRelatedresearchSDGPrediction of human phenotypes based on genome sequencesProfessorTadashi ImanishiUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of Medicine Basic Medical Science and Molecular Medicine CourseMy current research interests are: 1) development of technologies for manipulating the mammalian genome; 2) creation of novel mouse models with potential applications in basic and biomedical research, and; 3) development of gene therapy (including improvement of gene delivery method) using genome editing method. My major contributions to the animal genetic engineering field were the development of Easi-CRISPR and i-GONAD methods, which have been widely adapted in the animal transgenic community.ResearchAreasBiological sciencesKeyword■Genome editing■CRISPR■Gene therapy■Model animals■Transgenic animalsRelatedresearchSDGDevelopment of genetic engineering and gene therapy methodsProfessorMasato OhtsukaUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of Medicine Basic Medical Science and Molecular Medicine CourseWe are decoding and studying “genome”. DNA sequencing technology has been rapidly evolving with an overwhelming pace over the “Moore’s law”, triggering many paradigm shifts onto basic/applied biological and medical sciences. It also contributes to environmental sciences to maintain genetic diversity and safety. We are conducting massive whole-genomic sequencing (WGS) of the mouse as a model system to advance the understanding of life. Another key agenda of our studies is to elucidate “biology of mind” that is indispensable to appropriately utilize the advanced technologies of not only life sciences but also other drastically growing elds, e.g., AI and information technologies.ResearchAreasComplex systemsKeyword■Genetics■Genomics■Mutagenesis■Animal model■Whole genome sequencingRelatedresearchSDGMutagenesis and Genomics to Elucidate Life, Medical & Environmental SciencesProfessorYoichi GondoUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of Medicine Basic Medical Science and Molecular Medicine Course104
