Recent advances in DNA sequencing technology have led to the decoding of a large amount of viral genomes. I study genomes of various viral genomes to elucidate the evolution of viruses and their relationship with diseases. At present, I am particularly interested in SARS-CoV-2 as well as viral sequences endogenized into host genomes.ResearchAreasBiological sciencesKeyword■Genomics■Molecular evolution■Microbiology■BioinformaticsRelatedresearchSDGViral evolution research revealed by large-scale sequencingJunior Associate ProfessorSo NakagawaUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of Medicine Basic Medical Science and Molecular Medicine CourseMy interests are evolutionary biology using genomics, linguistics, and (bio)informatics. I focus on human population history, language evolution, and evolutionary genomics of fungal species.ResearchAreasBiologyKeyword■Evolutionary Biology■Anthropology■Linguistics■BioinformaticsRelatedresearchSDGEvolutionary genomics in human and infectious diseasesAssistant ProfessorHiromi MatsumaeUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of Medicine Basic Medical Science and Molecular Medicine CourseFibrosis is observed in various organs in the body following a chronic and uncontrolled inammatory process. Tissue brosis often hampers physiological repair and provides a pathological background of cancer development. Work is in progress in our laboratory to develop novel diagnostic and therapeutic means for organ brosis.ResearchAreasMedicine, dentistry, and pharmacyKeyword■Organ brosis■Tissue Remodeling■Tissue repair■Regeneration■CarcinogenesisRelatedresearchSDGPathophysiological interplay between organ brosis and regeneration/carcinogenesisProfessorYutaka InagakiUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of Medicine Basic Clinical Science and Public Health Course110
