A parents' group is one of the systems to support families of sick children. Patients with pediatric cancer generally receive painful chemotherapy for years and may, in some cases, die. Illness of children brings great distress not only to patients themselves but also their family members. The parents' group is an unocial peer-support group aiming to support fighting against illness by sharing information, comforting, cheering up, displaying sympathy, etc. among people with similar experiences. Considering a growing need for interprofessional collaboration today, we are proceeding practical intervention study in the area of pediatric cancer, focusing on collaboration between families of patients and medicine.ResearchAreasMedicine, dentistry, and pharmacyKeyword■Family nursing■Pediatric Nursing□Pediatric Oncology Nursing□Self-help GroupRelatedresearchSDGCollaboration between Pediatric Cancer Parents' Groups and Health Care ProvidersProfessorReiko InoueUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of NursingMuscle oxygenation: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is often associated with skeletal muscle dysfunction. We have investigated muscle oxygenation state during exercise using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Skin color : A patient’s skin color is one of the important signs for assessing their pathophysiological status. We have investigated the forearm skin color of patients with chronic renal failure, heart disease or shock using spectrophotometer. The relationship between acute pathophysiological changes and skin color has been studied.ResearchAreasMedicine, dentistry, and pharmacyKeyword□COPD■muscle oxygenation□exercise■skin colorRelatedresearchSDGSkeletal muscle dysfunction in patients with COPD; Skin color and pathophysiological changeProfessorTomoko KutsuzawaUndergraduate School of MedicineFaculty of NursingMy main research field is occupational health nursing. I have been engaged in the following research projects, promoting mental health of workers, balancing cancer treatment and work, and enhancing health and productivity management, etc., especially in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). To support SMEs, occupational health nurses (OHNs) have been revealed to play multiple roles, such as assessing needs of workers and employers, providing appropriate supports to them, and coordinating many relevant professionals including public health nurses in community health eld.
