I specialize in modern Japanese literature and comparative literature of the late 19th - the early 20th centuries (the Meiji and the Taisho Eras). I shed light on famous Japanese literary works adapted from obscure Western novels of the same period. My research has taken me to foreign libraries in my quest to identify the original Western novels used for the Japanese adaptations, which were hitherto unknown. I have also expanded it into translating those Western originals into demonstrate to contemporary readers the resourcefulness of those adaptations. In addition, my work’s scope includes the study of the history of mystery novels and modern Japanese publishers.ResearchAreasHumanitiesKeywords■Comparative literature■Modern Japanese literature■Meiji and Taisho Era’s newspaper serials■Mystery novels■Dime novelsRelatedresearchSDGModern Japanese literature and comparative literature of the late 19th - the early 20th centuries (the Meiji and the Taisho Eras)ProfessorKeiko HoriUndergraduate School of Cultural and Social StudiesDepartment of Creative WritingThere are many student guidance problems in elementary and junior high schools in Japan. In particular, school refusal and bullying. In addition, the problem of Internet game dependence is also serious in recent years.I have been studying school refusal in elementary and junior high schools for many years, and I found that the background to the 180,000 cases is not only for psychological reasons, but also for developmental disorders and attachment disorders. Camping therapy for game-dependent disorders is also carried out, and the results are veried.ResearchAreasSocial sciencesKeywords■School refusal■Bullying■School consultation■Mental health■School psychologyRelatedresearchSDGRefusal to go to school at puberty- Examination from mental vulnerabilityProfessorReiko YoshikawaUndergraduate School of Cultural and Social StudiesDepartment of Psychological and Sociological StudiesOne of my researches is on local cinemas in Japan, and the role of cinemas for community development in Japan.
