All undergraduate courses at Tokai University are conducted in Japanese (There is no course taught in English).

Application qualifications

Foreign nationals to whom any of the four conditions below applies.

  1. Completion or expected completion by March 31, 2019 of 12 years of formal education outside of Japan or the equivalent education as recognized by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
  2. Completion or expected completion of a test of academic ability equivalent to 12 years of formal education outside of Japan, who will turn 18 years of age by March 31, 2019.
  3. Persons who have completed the equivalent of Japanese elementary school or junior high school education outside of Japan, attended a total of 3 years or less of Japanese elementary or secondary schools in Japan, and have completed or expect to complete their high school or secondary school education in Japan by March 31, 2019.
  4. Those who have reached the appropriate age and who are recognized as having met or exceeded the aforementioned academic requirements by Tokai University.

* Persons who fulfill any one of the conditions #1-3 and who have completed 3 or fewer years of elementary and secondary education in Japan of their 12 years of formal education are eligible to apply.

  4. Specialized examination (Conducted for Dept. of Arts (School of Humanities and Culture)) *2nd term exam only
  5. Practical examination (Conducted for Dept. of Physical Education, Dept. of Competitive Sports and Dept. of Judo and Kendo (School of Physical Education)) *2nd term exam only
Method B
(residents of foreign countries)
  1. Screening through documents specified by Tokai University
  2. The Examination for Japanese University Admission (In countries where the Examination for Japanese University Admission cannot be taken, applicants may use the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (N1) or the Test of Practical Japanese (Pre B or above))
  3. Three letters of recommendation
