Joining forces with corporate partner in research on disinfectant cleaning agent effective in preventing influenza and other infectious diseases

Associate Professor Kazuo Umezawa, a veteran of relief efforts at numerous disaster sites as a Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) member, stresses that during disasters, doctors alone cannot handle relief efforts--the support of experts from a range of fields is critical. Dr. Umezawa is also testing the efficacy of a new, long-lasting antimicrobial agent developed to disinfect surroundings, with hopes that this technology can help prevent influenza and other infectious diseases.
