研究内容
古代中東における初期農耕文化の研究
ムギと家畜は今日の暮らしに欠かすことのできない食料であるとともに、日常生活の中に深く根を下ろしている文化要素でもある。ムギ作とヤギ・ヒツジ・ウシ・ブタの飼育は、古代西アジア（中東）で誕生した。古代の人々は、どのように植物と動物のドメスティケーション（栽培化・家畜化）を開始したのか。その結果、社会はどのように変化したのか。そのプロセスを、コーカサス地方のアルメニアをはじめとする中東各地で、現地スタッフと共に発掘調査をして調べている。
