6月15日（木）に湘南キャンパスの各研究室での活動に励むタイ国モンクット王工科大学ラカバン校（KMITL）の学生23名が品川キャンパスを訪問しました。初めに、副学部長の撫中達司教授による情報通信学部の紹介、自動掃除機を使用してのプロジェクションマッピング設備の紹介がIoTラボにて行われました。
続いて、情報通信学科の清水尚彦教授の指導によりゲームのプログラミングに初挑戦。同研究室の学生の協力を得ながら各自が演習を進めてゲームを起動させる工程を学びました。さらに、応用編としてグループワークでの課題が出され、学生は各々に工夫を凝らしたプログラミングゲームを発表するなど楽しい講義となりました。
４時限目には、情報通信学科の山本宙教授から現代のインターネットでは欠かすことのできない、暗号技術についての講義が行われました。その後、各自が実際に暗号解読にチャレンジし、真剣に取り組む姿が見られました。
本日のまとめに際して、撫中副学部長より学生にスマートフォンを利用したアンケート調査を実施。“今回のキャンパス訪問について”の質問に対して、瞬時に“Excellent” 評価を多数の学生が回答してくれました。最後に、両大学の相互理解と交流のさらなる発展を願う挨拶がありました。
KMITL students visit Shinagawa campus
On Thursday, June 15, 23 students from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) in Thailand, who are working hard in their respective labs at the Shonan Campus, visited the Shinagawa Campus.
First, Vice Dean Prof. Tatsuji MUNAKA introduced the School of Information and Telecommunication Engineering and explained the projection mapping equipment in the IoT Lab, using an automatic vacuum cleaner.
Then, under the guidance of Prof. Naohiko SHIMIZU of the Department of Information and Telecommunication Engineering, the students tried their hand at programming a game for the first time. With the help of Tokai students from the same lab, each student learned the process of starting a game through exercises. They were also given group work assignments in which they applied their skills and presented their ingenious programming games in an entertaining lecture.
In the fourth period, Prof. Hiroshi YAMAMOTO of the Department of Information and Telecommunication Engineering gave a lecture on cryptography, which is indispensable for the modern Internet. After the lecture, participants tried their hand at deciphering the codes and took it seriously.
At the end of the program, Vice Dean Prof. MUNAKA administered a questionnaire to the students who visited the campus, asking them how they liked their visit. Many students immediately gave an “excellent” rating using their smart phones. (thanks,ขอบคุณ ครับ/ค่ะ). Finally, he expressed his wish for further development of mutual understanding and exchange between the two universities.
